Globus
Overview:
Globus is a non-profit service for secure, reliable research data management. With Globus, subscribers can move, share, & discover data via a single interface – whether your files live on a supercomputer, lab cluster, tape archive, public cloud, or your laptop, you can manage this data from anywhere, using your existing identities, via just a web browser. Developers can also use Globus to build applications and gateways leveraging its advanced identity management, single sign-on, search, authorization, and automation capabilities.
Currently, Penn State's Standard Subscription to Globus provides researchers with access to:
- File Transfer
- Managed Endpoints
- Management Console
- Usage Reports
- File Sharing
- Technical Support for Globus Connect, Web, or the Command Line Interface
- Application Integration Support
- HTTPS Support
As of 2024, Penn State's Globus subscription includes access to all of the Globus Premium Storage Connectors. Each of these connectors must be configured as a Collection available through an existing Globus Connect Server.
Penn State's Globus license covers the following units and sub-units:
- Penn State Commonwealth Campuses
- Penn State Great Valley
- Penn State College of Medicine
- Penn State Applied Research Lab
- Penn State Dickinson Law
Penn State Health and Penn College of Technology are not covered.

- Penn State maintains a Standard Subsciption for Globus and is responsible for the cost of the contract

- Requests for basic support, including adding managed endpoints to our subscription, should be e-mailed to OACIOR staff
- OACIOR staff will coordinate with Globus Support, as necessary, on advanced support requests
