Animal Research Forms and Software

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is a standing committee at Penn State that oversees and evaluates all aspects of the University's animal care and use program. The Committee's composition and responsibilities regarding animal research are mandated by the Animal Welfare Act (Public Law 99-198).

Animal Resource Program

The Animal Resource Program (ARP) provides veterinary care and disease prevention and health monitoring programs for laboratory animals, wildlife, and agricultural animals; manages laboratory animal facilities at University Park; coordinates animal purchasing and shipping; and offers clinical pathology and histology services, as well as personnel

CATS-IACUC Animal Care

Penn State's Centralized Application Tracking System for Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (CATS-IACUC) is used to submit and reference protocol information submitted to the IACUC for use of animals as subjects of research (policy RP04)

CATS-IRB Human Subjects Research

Centralized Information Tracking System-Institutional Review Board (CATS-IRB) is Penn State's online submissions program, used to submit and reference protocol information submitted to the IRB for use of human participants in research (Policy RP03).

COINS Conflict of Interest

Penn State's Conflict of Interests System (COINS) is used to submit Significant Financial or Business Interest Disclosures on a yearly and/or on an as-needed basis as required (policy RP06).

The Penn State Scientific Diving Program is an administrative unit functioning under the Office for Research Protections. The Program supervises all compressed gas diving for scientific and educational purposes under Penn State Policy RP09: Scientific Diving at Penn State.

Invent Penn State is a Commonwealth-wide initiative to spur economic development, job creation, and student career success. The service provides users with many resources; signature programs and tools can help users start up and grow a business, find licensable technologies and investment opportunities, and get to know the innovation community. myResearch Portal

myResearch Portal provides Principal Investigators with real-time, web-based access to administrative data associated with their sponsored research. Users are able to access up-to-date information on proposals, awards, protocols, and accounts.

OneDrive

As part of the Office 365 at Penn State suite, OneDrive offers secure, cloud-based storage that allows users to seamlessly collaborate and access files from anywhere in the world, at any time. With options to view files on both desktop and mobile, OneDrive helps users stay connected no matter where they are.

ORIS

The Office of Research Information Systems (ORIS) supports the University's Research Mission by providing support to all researchers and more than 180 staff members by designing, developing and maintaining web-based software systems in the Office of the Vice President for Research.

Purchasing and Procurement

Purchasing Services, a division of Procurement Services within the Office of Auxiliary and Business Services, is the designated authority for the effective and efficient procurement of goods, materials, and services for Penn State.

Pure

Penn State Research Portal is the University’s implementation of Pure: an application that stores and allows retrieval of information on investigators, research units, and research output (such as publications). The Penn State Research Portal acts as a public-facing interface that captures research output at the university.

Research Data Acquisition

A "Data Use Agreement" (DUA) is an agreement from a Data Provider that requires a signature/e-signature, or must be acknowledges in some other way in order to recieve data from another party.

RIMS

The Research Instrumentation Management System (RIMS) is a user, reservation, equipment, and billing system at University Park used primarly for materials, energy, and environment core facilities at University Park including the Materials Characterization Lab, the 

SciVal

SciVal is a research assessment tool that provides data on individuals, institutions, research themes, locations and collaborations. The data is provided by Scopus and ScienceDirect, and covers more than 30 million publications from 1996 through the present.

SIMS

Penn State's Strategic Information Management System allows for the budgeting, internal form processing, submission, negotiation, and reporting of research proposal and award information based on financial and non-financial grants and contracts.

Technology Management

The Office of Technology Managment's (OTM) mission is to protect Penn State intellectual property, identify its commercial potential, and stimulate economic development through the transfer of Penn State technologies to the marketplace.
